Tattoos never stop healing and changing over time. Since you'll have them for the rest of your life, the goal is to make tattoos that heal well. I've only been tattooing for 4 years, so I can't show you what my work looks like after 10, 20, 30 years yet, but I will show you how it looks months to a few years later.
